Michael Moussa Oud
Here arre a few pics of my new Michael Moussa Oud... it is 20 years old and has fantastic sound, the bass very powerful and rich but never
overpowering the treble. A fantastic instrument from a fantastic craftsman. Not only is he a fantastic Luthier he is one of the kindest and generous
men I have ever met! I had the pleasure to sit with him for an hour or so, have a coffee and play some music, even though as soon as I played the
instrument I knew it was going home with me.
I will get a recording together within the next week.

Well deserved Bodhi
Congratulations for having such a great hit of Mikhail effendi Abu Mina (Michael Moussa)- In Egypt they say a good oud goes to a good Udi !!!Can you
please post more details as this model does not show on his site i.e. wood of the bowl and dimensions- it looks simple but magestic
Enjoy it fully and play it in good health and do not forget your promise of posting an urgent taqssim for inpatient audience

Hi Markus, the bowl and neck are Rosewood with maple stripes, the perfelling appears to be ebony and maple but I didn't ask so I cant be 100%, the f/b
also appears to be ebony. The scale length is 61cm and the bowl is 20cm deep and 38cm at the widest point. Yes it is very simple and majestic as you
say, and that is exactly how I like,my Ouds! It is almost as if he made it 20 years ago especially for me! I am more than happy
Don't worry when I get the hang of the oud I will get something on Soundcloud and post the, link here

Be kind people I haven't played for about 6 months but the Oud does me a lot of favours just by sounding awesome:

well done bodhi for this quite unusual taqssim- that came both thoughtful and centemental unlike the common rehearsed ones. big congratulation for
having this wonderful piece of art by usta moussa and i would like to tell you that you are really blessed as this style is a rarity- out of which
michael made 3 or 4 in the nineties - purely self inspired before he was overtaken by the replicas and never came back!!!

Thank you nilepirate. I know I am lucky to own such an instrument and every time I play I feel that! Like I said in my first post Michael is one of
the kindest people I have ever had the fortune to meet and his passion for creating his masterpieces' is cleary visible and tangible in my Oud! The
Taqsim is a very short version of a Persian Dastgah perhaps that is why it is unusual to you? Thanks again for your comment and kind words.
all the best

Hi Bodhi,
did you take any pictures from Mr. Moussa workshop? That would be interesting if you could share them, just to see where and how he is building these
ouds nowadays!
Greetings, and have fun and be happy with your beautiful instrument,
Alexander

Thank you for your kind words Chris
Alexander I have unfortunately not actually seen his workshop, it would be nice to see where the magic happens, where his "babies" (Michael Moussa's
word) are born! Perhaps you could e-mail him and maybe he would be willing to end you some pictures, who knows!?
Thanks again everyone.
