Bashir abu alaa
Lives in baqa al gharbiya, hefa, Israel. This is according to his information on Facebook.
If I were you that's who I would seek out.
I'm sure there are many more.

You should ask our forum member Alfaraby this question, he is living there and knows all about the subject.

Also, I'm sure serious oud players from there, such as Taiseer Elias and Yair Dalal would be happy to share their opinions and preferences, as well,
if you emailed them.

TR Oud
This question has been asked tens of times in the past.
I suggest that you'd better make a tour in the Forum. On the OUD FAQ THREAD above, you'll find the contact info. about our local luthiers.
Senior luthiers are: Kamil Mowais (Nazareth) ( http://www.mikeouds.com/messageboard/viewthread.php?tid=12901#pid87... ), Hatem Jubran Nazareth), Abu Alaa (common mistake: Bashir is his son) (Baqah Algharbieh), Botrus Bisharah (Tarsheeha).
Following generation: Sima'an Mowais (Kamil's son), Wissam Jubran (Hatem's son) Peter Sayegh (Ramleh), Philip Shaheen (carbon fiber bowls)
(Tarsheeha), Samer Totah (Ramallah), Yaron Naor (Bat Hefer) & more ...
They all are good fair makers. It depends on what you are looking for ! Abu Alaa has the most "colorful" collection. He might meet any taste. Kamil
has 2-3 choices as seen in the videos in Kamil's thread. Hatem has 1-2 designs. Botrus makes the same oud almost all the time, at least those I've
seen. The same as to Philip, but the sounds vary.
Hope this was of some help.
Yours indeed

Dear Jamil,
your feedbacks about Kamil Mowais oud making make me curious to know more about his son's work. The path between knowledge and mastering is not an
evidence as history of Nahat family illustrate it.
Do you have some exemple of the ouds of Sima'an hands ?
Best regards

Marouan Dear
I have accompanied Mr. Mowais Jr. since his first trial and have had photos of most of his works, but I decided to withhold them a bit till he closes
his first year in oud making. Makers don't really like to show their first ouds.
Later on, when he's through with his experiments and gives me his permission, I'd introduce him to the oud-world.
One thing I can promise: his ouds sound like his father's. I 've heard at least 15 so far. They all speak the same language: Kamillian
Just for tasting the young man's first works, I hereby attach a sample. Hush ! Don't tell anybody.
Enjoy
Yours indeed

40 + . Till lately he worked in steel works, not wood. He got addicted to ouds since he grew in his dad's workshop downstairs their houses, but never
tried until dad almost quit due to his health condition.
He seems he's doing well so far under a very strict guidance & instruction of the master.
I'll update in a separate thread once he & I are ready.
Stay tuned

This oud in picture looks nice. Your writings about Kamil and his son and the records I heard on youtube really give me the wish to meet them. i'm
wishing to make the travel but pretty sure I will not be able to do so before at least 2 years.
Don't worry, I'll keep the secret... hope nobody is listening us
All the best !

I have an oud in which the label says "Haifa" with a photo of someone (presumably the luthier) and the rest is in Arabic.
Can anyone tell me about this luthier and oud?
Many thanks.

Is this a 100-year-old oud? If so, what sort of value should it have?

By the way, I do realize that just because something's old doesn't mean that it's either well made or valuable per se.
And here's another photo of the label; perhaps more can be read

The label says as follows:
This is a work by Amin Elias Haddad
in Haifa on 20/1/1962.
This must be one of his first ouds.
I've written about the late Amin, here:

RIP dear Amin

Many thanks for all that information, Alfaraby.
Out here in the San Francisco Bay area prices for ouds seem to have dropped quite a bit, and there seem to be a number available. I don't think that
I would be able to find a buyer at anywhere near $ 600. I paid less than that last year for an oud that the seller bought for more than twice that
amount in Turkey some years ago.
