Question Re Downloading Videos

Hi People,

The Farid Awel Hamsa Taqsim and the Issa Boulous Meditations (WMV) videos have always played fine for me, but for some reason, all the other videos at Mike's site have never worked; they've always just launched after downloading, played a few seconds, and then stopped.

Then just today I realized that the temperamental videos had been ending the downloading process prematurely, stopping after only 92.9 Kb—so when they launched, they played only those few minutes and then stopped.

I've tried all the angles that I know of to coax them to download in their entirety, but they always seem to think they're done after 92.9 Kb. I'm on a slow dialup connection (26Kb), and I imagine that that could have something to do with it, or perhaps there is something about the version of RealPlayer that I use (latest free version for Macintosh), or maybe the fact that I'm using a Mac.... I have no idea why the Farid el-Atrache and the Issa Boulous download fine while the others play this trick. Has anyone else encountered something like this and figured it out?

Thank you,
Don

Hey DD,

My advice to you would be to get something like Download Accelerator Plus, or something like that... I too have had the problem in the past. Any of those download accelerators will allow you to download the clips in their entirety.

Another quick fix (if you are using Microsoft IE) is to go to Tools/Internet Options and then Delete Files (from your hard drive cache).

I have this same problem with Mike's site and that does it for me.

Success! "Speed Download 3" finally made it happen.

I seem to have an exceedingly temperamental something somewhere with the computer/browser/dialup/ISP/website combination; there are other things I can't do without some kind of trick move—such as log in. Login only "takes" if I click the Secure option; if I don't, I just get taken back to step one (and all of this stuff still happens with a pristine, empty-headed browser in a newly installed OS).

Anyway, now we've overcome the final hurdle. Thank you for your help.

Best always,
Don
