Ed Melikian is a musician and vocalist specializing in the music of the near and middle east. His oud playing and singing has brought pleasure to tens of thousands of people through his appearances in supper clubs and cabarets, as well as on the concert stage. He has toured throughout the United States and abroad, and has been performing professionally for well over 3 decades. Ed has recorded a number of albums with many of the top musicians and singers in the field of near and middle eastern music. His ethnic repertoire consists of authentic music of Armenian, Greek, Turkish, Arabic and Israeli cultures, melded together with western, jazz-flavored improvizational flare. In the mid to late 1970\'s, Ed recorded 3 albums with the late \"King of Belly Dance Music\", George Abdo, which all received world-wide distribution. Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, having purchased the rights to all of George\'s recordings, released a new compilation of the \"Best of George Abdo\" in 2002.
