It seems really nice.
The design which remind me the oud owns by Mike, made by el Hifnawy in 1925 ( you can see it in "my ouds" section, main page of mikeouds.com).
Did you made records with it, to share with us? DaveH - 11-26-2009 at 09:54 AM
Hi Alfany
I want to be really virtuous and ask for a sound clip rather than just judging it by its looks...
... but that is one beautiful oud. The elongated shape seems to have been much more common in the early 20thC than it is now.
I'd still love to hear the sound! FLIPAX - 12-2-2009 at 03:35 PM
Hi This Oud Looks Astounding!
Oblongated Shape!
Please Post Some Sound Clips!
Thanks

Does anyone have any information about Mr. Arazi, where did he work, when, where are the other ouds he left ?
I've heard of this outstanding luthier but never actually knew who he really was !
Any info. will be really appreciated
Thank you
Yours truly

hello everybody,
Rafla Razy was more of a Qanoun maker than an oud maker, he made some ouds too.
His qanoun where played by the great Abdo Saleh of Oum Kalthoum Orchestra.......
In that period their where great oud makers like Abd Al Aziz Alacy and Jamil Georgy, Lacy was connected with Al Qasabjy and they worked
together...qasabjy was one of the first Arab oud player ever to say that any oud with more than 60 cm string length will serve nothing, Al Lacy oud
for me were made in perfect way , however more like women oud .....most of Qasabjy ouds where made by Al Lacy and some by Abdo Nahat and Jamil
georgy.
again Rafla Razy influenced many Qanoun makers like Rabih and Gaby.....his Qanouns were very beautiful made , beautiful decoration, also some of his
ouds were very well made and beautifuly decorated.
Best wishes,

Thanks Adel for the enlightenment about Arazy !
What did Qasab mean by this quotation ? That all the 61.5 cm string length ouds we ever knew is rubbish ?
Abdo Nahat, our oud "Strad" made 61.5 cm ouds, so does this suppose to mean he didn't really know what he was doing, or what ?
I wonder ...
Thanks again

Ahlan Al Faraby,
Yes Al Qasabjy worked alot with al Lacy, and he made him his ouds, they were very small, also the 60 cm is very good for going up the fingerboard ,
much easier to play fast notes.....Qasabjy pushed the instrument and used the F string to have more range ....
I have few Abdo nahat ouds, , all different sizes , different mold, each oud has his/her own colour, some of these ouds are big and others small, it
depent how you are using these ouds ....soprano, bass, Tarab, Sharqi....it does not mean that it's wrong or not knowing what he was doing....you have
in the western world, Violin, Viola, Cello......the same with ouds.
Best wishes,
