Who's the luthier ?
Sorry Sam, but it sounds to me just like any other ordinary commercial oud !suz_i_dil - 12-6-2009 at 02:03 PM
I'm sorry Sam, but I join the opinion of Alfaraby.
Moreover the aspect of the shellac and the many cracks on the soundboard. I don't think it worth such a price. Sam - 12-6-2009 at 04:30 PM
alfaraby and suz
luthier is unknown its written in arabic عود عراقي نوع اول
كرادة بغداد and yes it sounds like any other iraqi oud .. how much does it worth then ?zakiya_alali - 12-7-2009 at 07:34 AM
It could well be a fake one!!
why wouldnt a luthier put down his name? does he want to prmote his ouds!!!Sam - 12-7-2009 at 03:39 PM
zakiya alali i dont think so , you are not the only one who owns orginal iraqi oud cuz my uncle brought this oud from iraq in the 80's he was studying
in the Aviation College in iraq now he quit playing and offered this oud for sale Luttgutt - 12-8-2009 at 01:30 AM

Zakiya, what do you MEAN by "fake"??!!
The oud has no lable. So the word "fake" has absolutly no meaning in this case!!
Sam, maybe you ought to change the strings, and post a new sound file. Good luck with the selling.FLIPAX - 12-8-2009 at 06:52 AM
Hi Sam!
This Oud Is ok Man! Dont worry if it is "Fake or not" The important thing here is u like how the oud sounded. and If It Looks ok not that it looks
like to break in a few years then just check to a good luthier to see if it is in a good condition. Otherwise what I saw on the video it sounded just
fine.
It depends on the buyer ! One may ask for 1000 & get only 350 or get the whole grand !
"Iraqi " is not a recipe for good oud. Iraqi oud may vary from rubbish to excellent oud, just like any Syrian or Egyptian or Turkish oud . 1000 is a
price for a very good oud of some famous luthiers like Mourice Shahata, Thabet Albasry, Fathi Ami & others, so beware of comparison with such
luthiers.
Therefore, remake your calculations .
Good Luck
Yours indeed
Alfaraby
