Yes, we're talking about the same longa :)

My sheet is longer with an intro in eighth notes : C D C E C F C G (twice) by stopping the sound on each note.

Anouar Brahem made a sweet version on "Astrakan café".

I know that there are many versions and modified versions of it, but I will stick with my simple one then one can add any ornment he wants...Marcel khalifa play it too..

So Are you going to play it?

David.B - 1-3-2010 at 09:48 AM

I already played it, but I need a lot of time to get it back in my fingers, I'll check out what I'm able to do this evening...

This is a disaster ! I stumble on each note... About 3 or 4 years I don't use scores anymore, I would need a while to play it again really good. Right now I'm working on Rast, I hope to get more feed back on analysis with such a maqam  But give us your own interpretation, I think this piece is an eliminating heat and can give a general idea of instrumentalist abilities (my teacher, who's Lebanese, told it's an exam over there).

I use an old portable tuner but I don't switch on my computer when I play music.

Good news,... perhaps you should change your mood from nikriz to rast ...
:)
You will have a lot of real work with Rast...It is the base of our oriental music...but the Sikah makes us different since we dont start with full note...

Is this a superstition?
I tune and record by computer all the time. Sometimes I read on computer and play at the same time....
deux en un :)

No it isn't ;)

I use a CD player and monitoring speakers... The sound is really "clinic" and give to me all details. I don't know if a computer would give the same sound like my YC 201 ?
