Tayyar Oud For Sale

ExtreamTarab - 2-8-2010 at 10:45 AM

Hey fellow oudists,

I am selling this oud made by Mr. Saad Al-Tayyar who is very well known for his outstanding craftsmanship and amazing instruments. This oud belongs to my music teacher who has asked me to help him sell it.

The bowl is made of curly maple, soundboard of red ceder, and its fingerboard and pegs are ebony.

For more information and any questions you can always contact me by U2U or send me an email at ibrahim_holoubi@yahoo.com

Tayyar Oud ... More Pictures

ExtreamTarab - 2-10-2010 at 09:15 PM

The dimension of the oud are: 50cm x 36.5cm x 15.5cm

The string length is 57.5cm and the fingerboard is 19.5cm

I'm still working on the sound file, I need to find a way to reduce its size. Hopefully I will have it uploaded soon.

Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns ;)

Convert your soundfile to mp3, that should get it down in size.

How much are you asking?

Victor.

Tayyar Oud ... Sound Sample

Here's a sound sample of the Tayyar oud.

It was recorded using the embedded mic in my laptop with no effects added.

The sound file is apparently empty. How much is the price and scale length?

I was able to play it, but it sounds pretty bad. Low quality and distorted. Hard to tell how good the instrument is.

Victor.

Interesting. It just caused winamp to lock up on my system.

Luttgutt - 2-13-2010 at 07:48 PM

Well, the sound file works fine!

Sounds very nice! But are you sure about the dimentions of the oud? can you please check again? String length?

Is the price a sicrete? : )

ExtreamTarab - 2-15-2010 at 10:07 AM

Hey,

The sound file works pretty well...I don't know why it's causing problems to some of you. It was however recorded using my laptop mic as I said before and I had to reduce it a bit to be able to upload it on the forums. That might have reduced the quality as well

As for the dimensions, yes I am sure about them Luttgutt...what makes you think there's something wrong with them ???

The price is no secret at all...as I have told people who asked me it was bought from Mr. Tayyar for $3000 and that's how much the owner is asking for. However, I am sure there's a place for some negotiation for serious buyers.

Hi ExtremTara!

Well I just learned that the finger borad should be 1/3 of the string length. That is why I was wandering!

But this does not seem to affect the sound of this oud. It sound wanderful!

For the given neck length the string length should be 58.5, so the bridge must have been accidently placed too far forward, and as it's a floating bridge it would be a simple matter to put it back where it belongs.

"Katyusha" detected on sound file )))))

ExtreamTarab, your teacher studied in USSR?
