i like the song malguena so much and want to play it on oud. i got a guitar sheet form a friend, which have every second note a high "e" in the theme,
but i cant play it on oud cause my highest string is "c". (need a high "f" string - tuning i think)

Hi
I don't know much about music notes writing but I play it on Arabic tuning
the Maqam is:
Do
Re bemol
mi or mi bemol if u want it to be hijaz or bayat
Fa
Sol
La 1/2 bemol
Si bemol
Do
so you will be playing the high Do freely

I don't want to say anything too negative, but I don't think any of the oud Malaguenas sound great. It really needs to be played with several fingers
on the right hand, and the chords very accurate on the left. I don't think this is the oud player's greatest strength, or calling.
Don't get me wrong, I love all oud players, but when I hear Naseer Shamma, by no less than a heroic feat, manage to play very good chords and still
swing that risha, all I can think is "wow, but why didn't somebody just get the poor SOB a Spanish guitar?" It doesn't quite sound like an oud.
I can't understand the interview, maybe someone can tell us what the topic is, but like at around 19:30, the interviewer here seems to be thinking the
same thing:
