Dear all,
I have for sale a oud made by egyptian oud maker Murad el turki. I bought this oud from the forum here from Mike Malek, the coordinator of the forum.
This oud is sold through the maurice shehata shop, where it gets finished and has the pegs changed as I was told by Mike. I bought this less than a
year ago, didn't play it much. the oud is in great condition. absolutely no scratches or dents. I am sorry but I am not good enough to play and upload
the sound file, but as i said before the oud was bought from Mike Malek through Maurice so no worries. I will ship the oud in a hard case to protect
it. Only USA and Canada please. please dont hesitate to ask any questions:

Please don't be mad at me bibo10, but Murad Alturki is a second league luthier from Almatariah quarter in Cairo.
Sorry, but neither Mike nor Maurice can ever upgrade his ouds to what they are not . Yet, he's not bad at all, but I have to say the whole truth, even
though one might not like it .
I have bought two of his ouds in the past, one via Maurice & the other directly from his workshop in the middle of nowhere in Cairo, and they both
failed to meet my expectations, so I let them for the first offer I had got .
The man makes beautiful finishes, but has nothing to do with producing sounds. He may coincidently succeed, like in your case, but I'm quite sure he's
not an Usta like Farouq or Nazhi Ghadban or Fadi Matta or Dr. Ali Hasan or Fadel sons & some others !
Anyhow, it depends on the price. If it's 300-500 $ (excluding the hard-case of course) that would be more than a fair price .
Good luck bibo & forgive me
Yours indeed

alfaraby,
I am not mad at all. We are all honest members and that is the beauty of this forum, and that is why we have a very healthy community.
I never said he is an usta at the same level as these great luthiers, these people are remarkable oud makers.
At the same time, he is not bad at all. I had JT and Mavorthi play this oud, and they both had nothing negative to say about it (maybe i should upload
a sound file to support myself!)
and also the fact that it is coming out of the maurice shop and through Mike makes this a comfortable buy. I mean they wouldn't put their names on the
line like that!
Thank you for your input, and your forgiven (Don't say that man, we are all friends here)

Perhaps I should share a story about Maurice's work:
A few years ago, I ordered an oud from a luthiere who had some REAL impressive pictures of his work on his web page.
The oud arrived in a ROUGH shape and did not look ANYTHING like what I saw on that web page. CRACKS, POOR FINISH, WRONGLY ASSEMBLED!!!!!
It did sound nice, and the soundboard was well made. The rest was a typical example of poor workmanship.
I hand carried it with me to Cairo, and simply gave it to Maurice who agreed with me about the potential of the instrument. He replaced the pegbox,
re-finished the bowl, then heat treated the instrument.
The result was A REAL IMPRESSIVE instrument in terms of looks and sound.
Bottom line is: Maurice does miracles. He is one of the BEST luthieres in the world.
If the oud is refurbished by Maurice, then it is a decent instrument.

Well yea, the oud shopping process is not an easy one. And I heard some great things about Maurice, I wish I could afford one of his ouds. When I go
to the motherland, I will definitely make sure I get myself a nice Maurice oud.
This oud that I am selling however was received in an excellent condition, wrapped up very professionally in a solid hard case.
