Found this today in a Lebanese business mag. It seems that the inventor got funds to go to China to investigate mass manufacturing. I have no idea how
this device is supposed to work and what is the practical meaning of "automatic", the pic is the prototype.
>>Dozan, is an automatic tuning device for stringed instruments. The inventor is Bassam Jalgha, a 22 year old mechanical engineer graduate. He
says: "the idea of Dozan started from my passion for music and specifically the oud". Jalgha device has been proved to perform fast, automatic and
accurate tuning.

the most important questions are how much it is n how we can buy it...

May be it was not clear in my post:
The pic is a NOT YET manufactured product, only a Prototype. It may or may not reach the market.
It is not an available product, and sorry I don't have more infos.

A few systems exist for electric guitar.
This one doesn't seem to be ready to be sale.
But the new gibson seems to be ready.
But the disadvantage is that the dogs don't like it...
Also take a look at this.
Yes why not.

No question the day is coming when string instruments will tune themselves. Including subtleties like temperaments. Somehow I can't get too excited
about it on guitar or bass or oud. Who cares?
But on a 118 peg harpsichord it's pretty attractive.

The Gibson is impressive but It seems that many players don't like the extra weight.
Indeed, Fernand, it seems interesting when you have 118 pegs to tune.
For oud I have a doubt on this system, we all know how oud pegs can get moody and non-cooperative, how much torque is needed to deal with an old oud
winter pegs? according to my wrist, a lot ! sometimes I have to use my right hand because the left does not have enough force.
may be it'd work with the Pegheads system or with old Fadi Matta pegs (now that he started using indian pegs, they are not as good as they used to be
on the old models)

oh man, i would kill for something like this hahah
but honestly i think such devices do more harm that help. The way i see this to work is the same as a calculator works. A calculator is very helpful
when doing complicated mathematical operations but when a student depends on it too much, he loses his feel and skills, and that is why students in
engineering schools are prohibited to use calculators in all math classes!
as Fernand mentioned, this is helpful when tuning many strings. but when only tuning 10 or 11 strings, then there is no point of using a tuning
"calculator"
plus tuning the oud is a practice in itself, it brings you closer to the oud and increases the player's "feel" for the instrument!
This is even more dangerous for beginner oudists, if you are an expert and already learned how to tune the oud and mastered the process and decide to
use an automatic tuner just cuz ur lazy, then that is acceptable. but to use it from the get go when u dont even know how to tune the oud manually,
then that is very bad!
these are just my thoughts, i could be wrong. feel free to criticize.
