i'm a guitarist who picked up the cheapest non-plastic-rosetted oud i could find in 3ammaan 8 years ago. it hasn't seen much action, but i
decided to get some new strings for it, and realized that it only has space for 10 strings on the nut (even though the bridge would allow 12). this
forum was really useful for helping me get tuning ideas, but i was wondering if anyone double-strings the lowest string on a 5-course oud. or is that
considered inappropriate?

I use 12 strings instead of 11 on a six course oud and the oud police have not arrested me yet.
