Best place for studing??????

Hello dear oud lovers..
I really want to go in some arabic country to study seriously Oud for a couple of months (maybe more).
I would prefer to study in a school to get in touch with other students.
I heard about Damasco, Aleppo and Cairo..
I would like to study in a place in which they use my tuning or a similar one cc\gg\dd\aa\gg\C which is a traditional one.
I would prefer Syrya, but I don't know if studyng for 2 or 3 months in one of the Syrian music conservatories is possible. Is it??

If schools are not possible, does anybody have email address of oud teachers in Syrya or in Egypt (or elsewhere)?

why arabic countries? you can come to iran n become a student of Vaziri institute(tehran). Majid Nazempour is the oud teacher. he uses A-D-G-C-F tuning for melodic strings, E, F or G for the double stringed bass n C or D for the single string bass. u can learn either persian or arabic style. ive uploaded some videos of his performances in syria. why dont u watch them n see if u like his style?

Arab oud house seems nice, but the site is only in arabic!!
Unfortunately I don't find any website of music conservatories (Cairo, damascus, Alep, Tunis)..
By the way..
Does anybody know something about Tunis conservatory??
Does anybody have web or e.mail addresses that can help?

A small correction David,

The link you put for the Antonine University is in fact the link for USEK - Universite Saint Esprit Kaslik. The USEK has one of the first Oriental Music Majors established in the Middle East, Charbel Rouhana is the head of oud teaching in USEK.

The head of department is Nidaa Abu Mrad and yes he is very attached to traditional Maqam, I like the guy approach

Daniele the website of Lebanese Conservatory is:

They have good oud teachers but I don't like their too academic approach, the head of the conservatory is a well known figure in Lebanon called Dr Walid Gholmieh, this guy pretend to compose arab music symphonies with 60 musicians, and he considers Taqasims as being a useless waste of time !

If your interest is in Tarab (as suggested by your nickname) I don't think that a Naseer Shamma driven school is the good address.

My "dream oud learning method" -that I never had the time to do- is to go to a place where I know no one, find a real good old musician (not a teacher, a musician who plays with takht ensemble and singers, the old school) and spend 3 hours a day with him, everyday, then spend another 3 hours playing and then another 3 hours to discover the culture behind the music, everyday, for 2-3 months. Somewhere like in Cairo, Aleppo, Istanbul or Iran.

Sounds good to me, I hope I'll be able to do such a thing one day too. Right now I use Cd's and books and my ears... difficult and painful.

I am very confused\
I agree perfectly with Luggutt; I was oriented for a school beacause I liked the idea of getting in touch with other students.
I thank Corridoio for his addresses\
I already sent emails to the oud prof of Tunis\ I am from Sicily and it would be easier to me.
I think that I will go to Tunis in the next weeks and get some informations there.
