The photos are of a very low quality, there's no sound sample, no attached info whatsoever, no price indicated ! So how would you expect us to relate
to your post ?
The only clear thing is that the photo on the inner sticker is of the late graet luthier Sempat Derpetrossian, the father of another great luthier :
Garabett Derpetrossian !
Excuse me !
Yours

Dear Abu Tayseer:
This oud is make by SUNBAT Derbetrossian.
Bassel : please post high quality photos and sound ...aaand price Please.alfaraby - 5-2-2010 at 09:21 AM
Ahlan Doc.
Did you mean to correct my writing of the luthier's name, or what ?
His full right name, as he used to write it, is Sempat Derpetrossian, but people made it Sunbat Bedrossian as this is easier to
pronounce. I'm looking at his clear sticker of my 1942 masterpiece !
Bassel : I may dare and price this oud for 1500 - 1700 $ max. & please excuse me for doing this. I wonder what does Adel or Nizar have to say
about that !
Yours indeed
Alfaraby

Actually, Faladel, my own Sempat DerBedrossian has a label that is almost identical to the Sempat posted by Bassel. And the name Sempat used is not
Derpetrossian, but rather DerBedrossian (the use of the "b' rather than the "p" is dialectical). You can see it as such on Alfarabys label.
The entire DerBedrossian family did not use the same label. Even Garabed DerBedrossian did not always use the same label. Here are some examples:
http://varjouds.com/berossian.htm
I don't like to get too worked up over the exact name, because it is only an attempt to translate a foreign name into English or Arabic. Here, an
Armenian name is being put into a language other than Armenian--not always an easy task. Heck, on the Garbed DerBedrossian, you can see that his
first name actually evolved from Karapet into Garabed (and yes, this is the exact same person).
I am going to try to update my website later this week, and include some of Sempats labels.
It is always nice to see one of Sempat's ouds, Bassel, and I hope you can find time to post larger pictures, and a sound file. My own Sempat has a
very nice, rich, Nahat-ish tone.
