Fate has decided. Starting next month I will be studying in Heidelberg for 4 years.
The studenthome has very little rooms and I can only take the most necessary. So I'm forced to step to sale my new oud
It is brand new, sabbassi created it for me last december
@Igor: That are bad news ... no way to keep the oud?Itman - 8-5-2010 at 01:09 PM
@Chris
No chance. I have to clean my room for my sister. Either I kick the stuff away or I sell them. I am very sad about this.Danielo - 8-5-2010 at 11:19 PM
Hi Itman,
too bad ! Maybe you should try to find someone who agrees to sell it back to you in a few years, after you finished your studies ?Aymara - 8-7-2010 at 01:14 PM
Hi again,
how about buying a hardcase and taking the oud with you? You could store it on top of the wardrobe. After a stressy learning day oud playing could be
very relaxing fernandraynaud - 8-8-2010 at 01:51 AM
Igor, you are a young man. Allow me to say something. In all my years, I have only sold two of my instruments. One was a Yamaha DX7 synthesizer, the
other a Gibson SG guitar. Both of them were good instruments. But more significantly I remember them in detail and mourn them like a personal loss to
this day, especially the guitar. When I sold the SG, I didn't think it would matter much, I could always get another. I was in my twenties and I was
stupid. There's something of a sin in selling something that was so close to one's soul. Especially since this oud was made for you. I had learned so
much playing that red guitar, and it had brought me so many feelings! The money I got was the cost of a couple of evenings out on the town, in other
words nothing of value, yet putting together the cash to get another is always harder. As Chris says, having that instrument to meditate with will
help you in your studies. It will also act as a link to your home and family when you are away. As to space, if there's no armoire to put it on top
of, you can even hang it in its case high near the ceiling like a hammock between two corners. Everybody here that is reacting to your announcement
has your interest at heart and is telling you not to do it.
Please think this over carefully. Aymara - 8-8-2010 at 02:11 AM

Not only that ... it's a link to your soul. As everybody says ... the oud is magical. It's the best tranquilizer after a stressy day ... at least for
me.
BTW ... maybe a good soft case is good enough ... maybe hang it above the bed on the wall.Ararat66 - 8-8-2010 at 09:44 AM
Hi Igor
You should keep the oud - it is far more valuable (spiritually) than you can know.
Good luck my friend
