How do I make this professionally?

Yaron Naor - 10-17-2010 at 04:52 AM

Hi,
Does anyone has some images of how I make this shape on the sound board in a very accurate way?
Thanks in advanced

Now I am not sure if you are kidding or not... and what is the image about?
If you gave him an Oud he should measure it and built the stand according to the Oud.
If you need more help, contact me via email
Thanks,
Yaron.

Sorry, in my mind the photo came first. To me this part of the oud symbolize a mihrab, isn't it? So I wonder if this question shouldn't be solved by an ulema ;)

About the stand I think the best is to make a template with carton. But he wants the measurements...

Oud beard

I'm not a professional oudmaker but it seems to me that you would need to fold a piece of paper in half, trace half the 'beard' on it, cut the paper, use the paper as the pattern to cut first the insert wood shape, then place the solid wood insert on the soundboard, trace it on the soundboard, cut the soundboard and insert the wood insert.

To trace it on the paper initially, you can use two circles as I'm showing on the attached. The gray area is the beard.

I hope this makes sense.

Beard

You're welcome, but I was hoping some professional would tell us how to make this beard so we would all learn.

This was just off the top of my head.
