Hello all - yet another plug for the luthier Tasos Theodorakis in Saloniki, Greece...
This laouto, c. 1915 was made by Anastasios Stathopoulos in NYC - and was discovered in rough shape. The instrument has been brought back to full
playing potential, with a deep rich resonance. While the instrument underwent a total overhaul for 10 months, the only replacement is the lower
moustache bridge, as the original had later been attached with screws! Taso was even able to remove later mottled finishes on the soundboard,
revealing the original lacquer. I know this was a difficult project for him, and I thank him very much for his careful and expert attention.
