Greetings! I have used this Turkish oud to perform semi-professionally and record solo and with the group "Ala Nar" since I purchased it in 2003. It
was made in 1994, and the tone has only grown more beautiful with age.
The bowl is walnut and lemon wood, and the soundboard is spruce. The rosettes are a dark wood, and the large one has a chip broken off.
Most importantly, the fingerboard has been replaced with solid rosewood, which improved the tone dramatically. Also, there was some damage to the
bottom left edge of the bowl, which has been completely stabilised and repaired by a luthier. See the photos.
In addition, the instrument has been fitted with a passive LR Baggs piezo element, which offered excellent balanced tone for performing live, although
of course by no means a substitute for the sound of a microphone.
I recently gained a flat-back oud which has become my preferred oud, and it is time to let the old one go. It is currently fitted with
Thomastik-Infeld strings in Arabic tuning CFAdgc
I am asking $750, which is what I paid for it.
Thanks!
