Athar Kurd and Zanjaran?

Jono Oud N.Z - 4-2-2011 at 04:46 PM

I am curious if anyone knows if there is a Turkish version of makam Athar Kurd? I have found no examples so far. The closest example i have seen is a modulation in the second hane of Suznak Saz Semaisi by Tatyos Efendi. This is most likely Seddiaraban / Shad Araban though? I have not found one piece in makam Athar Kurd in Arabic classical music either, just modulations in recordings. Could someone please attach an example of this makam in sheet music please? (If possible). I have composed a piece in this makam. Does anyone have any music in makam Zanjaran? I have also composed two pieces in this makam.
Also, does makam Zanjaran exist in Turkish music?:)

Simon Shaheen composed a samai in Athar Kurd, it's on his "Turath" cd.

Otherwise, it just seems to be used in modulations, as you have said.

Here is the first Khana and Taslim on Simon's Samai. This should be somewhat representative of the seyir (at least Simon's conception of it).

Thanks!!!:)
I love Simons playing!!
I have this album, but had missed the Athar Kurd part.
Could you possibly please attach the rest of the score?
It would be really good to play it with my group.
Here is my Samai in Athar Kurd.
The score needs a few lines drawn in, I exported it from Sibelius.
