Salam!
Moved to Delhi, been looking for guys to play with. As far as I heard, the chances are pretty high, if you know people from Iranian / Arabic diaspora
(and I've already got some contacts of Iranian drum players).
Any clues/contacts/places?
Thanks in advance.

well, as I'm gettin' the info, i'm gonna post it here just in case someone is interested.
i've already found several Arabic bands playing pop/classics in restaurants (e.g., Mashrabiya), although that's not quite exactly what i'm lookin'
for.

got it, found good Iranian musicians.
tip: look in musical institutes / local ethnic neighbourhoods (like, Iranian or Iraqi) - in my case, the southern part of New Delhi.
ps. just a few blocks away from my place there's Hazrat Nizamuddin, one of the Sufi sanctuaries and Muslim pilgrimage sites. they do great qawwali
there! there's also a tomb of Amir Khosrov, who's believed to be the creator of setar.

I don't know about the climate in New Delhi, but a friend of mine was living in Bangalore. She had her Egyptian qanoun with her, which, sadly,
collapsed and was completely destroyed in the hot, humid climate. I am not trying to scare you, just to remind you to take care with your precious
Middle Eastern instruments, which can be damaged by prolonged exposure to climates very different from those in which they were built.
Nemaste,
