I have been listening to a lot of Afghan music at the moment.
I really like it
Close to Indian, but also Persian influences.
I am keen to play some on the oud.
They used to use the oud in Herat in the Middle Ages, as well as the qanun, riqq and nay.
Does anyone have some traditional Afghan sheets?

Hi Jono,
You might get in touch with Helene Eriksen, through the contact link on her web site. She is knowledgeable, intellectually approachable and, as you
will see, quite busy.
Rabab, which is considered the most typically Afghan instrument of all, and probably the closest of the traditional Afghan instruments in sound to the
oud http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjxpo6cWWQ0
In the last video his picking out the melody on the sympathetic strings is not typical, but very clever none the less.
