Hi all. I recently received an excelent Sukar Model 1 from Tony (Fernandraynaud). The oud has a wonderful sound to it- more Egyptian than Syrian to my
ear, especially if you raise the action and let the mids come out a bit. Here is a recording I made: http://www.4shared.com/audio/lTsFXmG9/taqsim_nahawand.html
Let me know what you think.ExtreamTarab - 12-4-2011 at 08:07 PM

On this oud I use PVFs for the first and second courses, nylons for the third and standard wound basses for the rest.fernandraynaud - 12-6-2011 at 06:46 AM
Love the Taqsim, Ameer! I'm contributing a closeup of that oud, as I find the bowl walnut especially beautiful, and another snapshot next to his big
brother the Viola da Gamba, which is a 6 stringed bowed derivative of the European lute most popular in the 16-18th centuries, the lute in turn
deriving from the oud. In the background is a clavichord, count the tuning pegs (two for each course) (and there are 54 courses, one for each key)!
