Hard case

Giorgioud - 12-22-2011 at 08:43 AM

Dear oud freaks,
I am looking for a hard case which would fit an Arabic and a Turkish oud. One size fits all, in other words. I am based in West Sussex, United Kingdom. Any idea where I could find one? Second hand would be grand, as my financial resources are at the moment a bit stretched.
Thanks, kind regards
Giorgio

P.S. I am looking for a hard case, so I suppose the "one size fits all" really doesn't work with ouds, does it? So, I suppose I'll be looking for an Arabic oud hard case, as the Turkish oud is smaller and can easily fit inside the Arabic hard case, rather than the other way around..........please correct me if I'm wrong

Me too; somebody having seriously damaged my new Syrian oud when I stupidly left it on a London train, I can't afford the same to happen to my Salmeen.

Hello,

I can offer wooden hard cases at any size which is required. Have a look here:
http://music-strings.de/index.php?k=247&lang=eng

To do this I do need three drawings:
  1. total front view
  2. longitudinal cross section
  3. cross section of the mould at the widest point

Thanks, Matthias. I'll have to consider my options carefully as your obviously really good-quality cases cost about as much as my oud did fifteen years ago!

Hello shikar,

yes that may be really the fact. these cases are dedicated to high professional instruments, as they need the best protection which is possible. But anyway you can use them for more silmple instruments.

I looked around for other professional and stable hard cases, but it is really hard to find several alternatives. It was discussed here too. Most of them are too heavy and unstable for me. So I did my decicion to the onces I offer here.

Matthias

Hello Matthias,
thanks for your unvaluable tip. Of course good hard cases cost money but the prices made me baulk a bit, I gotta be honest......I'll have to have to do some hard saving in order to afford those excellent things........I shall get in touch sometimes in the near future....I want them!
