Hi,
I'd like to share with you a transcription I made from the "thimar" album of Anouar Brahem, the title of the track is "Mazad".
http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/5361/mazad.jpg
Few things about that transcription :
1/ Anouar Brahem is using a high F string on his oud ... in "Mazad" you can play the melody without that string ... the Brahem high F is only used in
the slowest passages of the piece
2/ the original pitch is 1/8 tone lower than the A 440Hz
3/ I made an arrangement of the bass line in the 6/4 measure ... if you want to play with a double-bass player the original bass line is doubling the
oud melody which is very difficult ... so I propose a simplification for the bass line ... the melody of Mazad is difficult on the oud (many position
changes) so it's a good option to simplify the bass line in order to focus on the oud diffculties
4/ the transcription has to be taken as " a real book" transcription ... It doesn't include all the subtilities of the oud interpretation (slight
tremolo, trills, etc.)
Hope you'll enjoy it.
Best.
Julien.
