As to all of Youssef Dhafer's music, I love the more original non-jazz parts. When they fall into that standard shuffled bass-drums-piano jazz thing,
I lose interest. It's largely the pianist who pulls it the way of his jazz chord roots.naddad - 3-8-2012 at 02:26 AM

Tigran and Mark are on fire! (on the good sense, both have good taste)naddad - 3-12-2012 at 01:41 AM
Yeah, just heard they play 737 most of the time. Some sections are either free or in another time sig.

The main theme from the beginning of the tune is in 17/8. Not sure how anyone would hear 7/8 or 7/4. Absolutely not. It wasn't the easiest odd time
sig to fiqure out. The feel is 3 bars of 4 and a bar of 5. 12 + 5 = 17. Fantastic. The piano solo seems to be in 7/8. Three bars of 4 with 2 beats
added on. 12 + 2 +14. I use to love fiquring these time sigs out. Now that I'm older I don't have the patience. This tune was so cool I couldn't
resist.Greg - 3-8-2015 at 03:33 AM
