Antonis Apergis

I notice on Antonis Apergis's Myspace page, in the biography section, he mentions that he has "recorded 5 albums with his compositions and 2 solo albums as an oud player". However, I'm only aware of the one solo oud album ("Outi" with Haig Yazdjian on FM Records). Does anyone know anything about this possible second solo oud CD?

Many thanks

David

No but I love his playing - I have that cd and a few youtube clips. Any news of other stuff would be welcome.

Cheers

That's fantastic, I love his style of playing. I think my favourite piece is "Konstantakis" from the "Outi" album - never heard anything quite like it on the oud before or since.

Hi David

The one I really like on that album (apart from Haig's Woman of Smyrna) is Antonis' Dance of Iconium - just love the 'groove' on that and the quick hesitant pauses that run through it.

He has one solo album which is just him on oud with a percussionist. It's really nice. Don't know if it's still available, and it is probably older than the one he shares with Yazdjian.

I believe the album cover is a picture of an oud over a Greek flag, entitled: "OYTI"

He also plays oud on Nikos Oikonomides' album "Thalassina Perasmata" which is a really nice album of Greek songs from Asia Minor and nearby islands.
