Considering what a famous oud player he is, there is very little biographical information out there about Said Chraibi, even on his website. Does
anyone know where he studied oud and who with? There is an almost complete lack of info on the period between him taking up the oud age 13 (c.1964)
and winning a prize in Baghdad in 1986. Was he studying oud in Iraq at the time of this latter award? He uses quite a few Turkish makams on his
recordings, which makes me wonder if he spent time in Turkey too? Someone must know something!!

I don't remember where i heard or read this, i'm pretty sure he studied with Farid el Atrache at some point, and maybe Farid Ghosn as well. Hope this
helps.

I've also seen Farid el Atrache mentioned before as one of his teachers, but I'm not sure why Chraibi doesn't include this in the biography section of
his website? There his a piece dedicated to his "master" Atrache on one of his CDs, but it's possible he just influenced Chraibi while he was teaching
himself the oud early on, and he may not have actually had lessons with Atrache?

None of the interviews or discussions of Farid I've heard ever mention any real students; in fact there are one, maybe two different recorded
interviews where he laments his lack of a successor so to speak. Then again that doesn't guarantee anything since Said Chraibi could've just studied
with him after they were recorded.
