I just had a brief but informative email chat with Curtis Daily, the proprietor of Aquila USA. It turns out that back when Aquila made nylon strings
(discontinued now) they obtained the nylon from South America and it was not made by DuPont. Mimmo's opinion was that DuPont nylon was an excellent
material for hairbrushes. So that's the origin of the "Uruguay" part of story; the misinformation I posted on another thread earlier this week.
Nylgut however is not nylon and not similar to nylon. Its composition is patented and is a carefully guarded trade secret.
