I've been saving this sturdy Egyptian bowl that a luthier friend gave me a few years back to put a new top on and rebuild the pegbox. It's being put
together on spec. When it is done I'm going to advertise it in the for sale section.
When I got it it had no top, it was topless. The peg box has room for four double courses and one bass. I'm going to convert it to a regular pegbox-
If someone is looking for the 9 string style let me know and I'll leave it in this configuration, otherwise the peg box will get rebuilt.
I've made the rose ring and the sound hole and thicknessed the top. Next I'll brace it this week. I've been using this rosette motif on my guitars, I
took this design motif from a 19th century oud. I'm sure glad I did because it's made some really beautiful guitar rosettes.
Thanks Fritz,
Here is how looking at the oud has influenced my guitar making.
Hi Stephen :-)
The "origin" of ouds implemented in your guitars is very fine !
I´ve been making flamencas blancas a few years ago for about 5 years... and today I´m hesitating to implate "guitar-style" rosettes in my ouds...
but the idea is okay I think :-)
Make your work as you make it :-) Otherwise the work isn´t authentically :-)
