Hello Mr Faruk,

I had the opportunity to try one of your reduce price oud, arabic barcing.
First congratulations for this achievement. Regarding the sound this line well deserve the price you are asking.

I was just wondering why the soundboard has a concavity in front of the bridge. This is not the case on your professionals oud, and I guess there is a good reason for that.
Is it a problem regarding durabilty of low action of the oud ?

All the best

Hello suz_i_dil,

Thank you for congratulation.
Yes, I tried a new approach on some Arabian tuning Reduced Price Ouds. The one you played must be one of those. It is a videly used technique: Many Arab makers thin the bridge area a bit more (almost %6-7 thinner than the overall thickness of the S.B.)
This helps a percussive attack and shorter decaying of the overtones. Because bigger fraction of the energy discharges there before reaching to the other areas and decay fast. There are other precautions to drop these sound features to a higher extend but I do not prefer my ouds sound in that way.
Anyways I've already put a sample oud on the bench to apply all the hitherto tried techs together with the Brace Tuning Method to make that oud sound "Old- Arabian" with a good balance. The application of BTM will work for the balance.

Kind regards.

It's nice you experiment different kind of technique for this line.
I may come to Istanbul 14th to 29th of september, but maybe just one of those 2 weeks.
Would it be possible at this period to come to your workshop to try this line ? The question behind is will you have ready instruments of this line to sold ? I must say if it was possible to try 2 or 3 different approaches of your quality arabic oud it would be great.

All the best

Hello suz_i_dil

The assistant of mine who is in charge of making the soundboards under my supervision has just made an Arabian one.
I hope we can manage to finish it until you come to Istanbul.

All the best.
