Made in 2002.
This oud was made following the measurements of a 1910 Hanna Nahat.
Walnut bowl, neck and pegbox. African Blackwood fingerboard and details. Ebony pegs. Spruce soundboard. Excellent sound quality. Incredible sustain.
Meticulously constructed. Nylgut Strings(one month old) Includes soft case and shipping costs (continental US) $1400.

This oud also sounds great with Turkish tuning, due to its shorter (59.5cm) scale. Here I am playing the oud with the Turkish Aquila Nylgut string set
and tuning.
Taqasim in Turkish tuning No effects have been added to this recording. This is the raw audio.

What a beautiful and elegantly made instrument! Congratulations, and thank you for continuing the oud's history of beauty to the eyes as well as
to the ears.

Hi Jameel
You selling your first ever self made Oud?
Jameel - 11-19-2004 at 10:48 AM
Faladel,
That was at a lecture Simon gave in Minnesota earlier this year. I posted several vidoes months ago, but they are probably gone by now.
Zulkarnain,
Yes, I am.

Jameel, I can't begin to tell you how much I am looking forward to the oud. It will be loved.
Jameel - 11-24-2004 at 01:50 PM
The oud is sold.
Thanks again Mike.

Jameel, the oud arrived this morning, and I have not been able to put it down. It is absolutely incredible, and I can't believe that this is
your first oud. The first thing I noticed is that it is really light weight. Like an old Karibyan--just incredibly light. Then, the sound. It is
loud, and each note is full and resonant. It is incredible how the notes just ring out. Absolutely beautiful.
I am a bit of an oud addict--not because I am a great player (I am not), but because I love the instrument. This is the first new oud that I have
purchased that I absolutely love. Most new ouds just have a bit of a dead sound to me--not this one. And, the size is great. It is so easy to play.
I know you said that it came out a bit narrower than you planned, but I really love this shape.
Thanks again.

Congratulations to you Jonathan! I am so happy that an oud addict like you was the person to obtain Jameel's oud. I remember when he was making
it, I was addicted to his website following along with his progress. I was blown away by his attention to detail, and how awesome his craftsmanship
skills were. No doubt it showed when the final product was complete.
Congrats again bud,
Mike

Jonathan,
What a glowing review! I'm very gratified that you are pleased with the oud. (and that it got all the way to Southern California in one peice,
whew!) Now I shall begin the next one!
