I just wanted to mention that today is the two year anniversary of this website. What started out as a small website of pictures of some of my ouds
using free hosting has developed into a 20 thousand hit per day website - and even more importantly - a special community for oud lovers all around
the world. This could not have been possible without all the regular visitors to the website, and without all the help and feedback of people who I
now think of as friends. There are really too many people to name, and because I don't want to miss anybody, I will just say thanks to everybody
who has offered me support and encouragement throughout these two years. You all know who you are!
As a second year anniversary offering, check the Sound Clips Forums for a great Rast Taqsim for the "Great One". Check out his modulation at about the
4 minute mark. Mind blowing stuff!
Take care,
MikeMulti Kulti - 11-26-2004 at 01:38 PM

I've really learnt a lot visiting the site both about the oud and great oud players. The clips that people have posted of their own playing have
also been inspirational. Thanks for a great site.

This is such a wonderful event and I join the others with my warmest wishes of prosperity for this website and its webmaster, and with my most sincere
thanks to all who participated in the forums and all who were interested in Oud and Oudism, and helped keep this site alive.
The Farido Taksim for the event is wonderful, God how good it is. The
Modulation was excellent too, from Rast to Saba. He is the "ONE" of the Oudtrix!!!
Of course I was inspired by this event to record something which humbly lurks in farido's Taksim's sahdow, a little song by Melhem Baraket
suitable for the event:
"B3eidik yalli inti el 3eid
Bitdawwi el far7a el dini
W byitmannoulik bil 3eid
T3eishi el miyyit sini
Mabrouk Mabrouk
W 3a2bal el miyyit sini"
Translation for those who cant understand:
In ur festivity, o one who is the festivity
The happiness brightens up the world
And they wish u in this festivity
That u may live till 100 years
Congrads congrads
And may u live till 100 years
Yours truly,

Two years has come and gone so fast. I remember the very beginnings of your website because it was at that time that I was making my very first oud.
Your encouragement and support was among many e-mails I received, but by a huge margin you were my greatest supporter! It is wth great pleasure that I
congratulate you on two years of the best website for the oud. oudman - 11-27-2004 at 02:47 PM

Hey all,
As a tribute to this great site, I decided to make a short recording of some of things I learned on here. I really didn't know much about
playing oud 6 months ago when I first joined the forum, but I've learned much more than I anticipated. With the help of dedicated members,
I've learned so much about maqam theory and modulation. Thanks to the maqam of the month post and the ton of recordings I hear everyweek, I am
constantly exposed to new sounds. From listening to other people's recordings and hearing what they have to say about a lot of topics, I realized
that no two oud players are identical. Everybody has his/her own unique sound and way of playing, but being able to hear all of the different styles
and create your own is truly a challenge. I've been listening to a lot of iraqi music lately (Bashir and Shama) so there is some influence in my
recording. So once again, thanx mike for the site and never failing to compress my numerous files . We are all truly grateful. Well, here it is folks. Any feedback would be highly appreciated!!Greg - 11-28-2004 at 03:27 AM
Mike,
I take this anniversary opportunity to add my sincere thanks for your work in establishing and maintaining this important site and forum.
I find myself regularly checking the forum for new posts. For me, it is a constant source of interest and inspiration.
Thanks also to all the other forum members who share their music, thoughts and knowledge.

Mike,
I can't thank you enough for this form. Since i joined this forum, I have learned more about the oud than the previous 10 years combined. Let
alone, all the nice oud images and the very nice taqasim files you have posted.
