I'm selling my Egyptian oud. It comes from the workshop of Maurice Shehata in Cairo. They call this model ward, which I believe means "rose"
or "rose-colored" in Arabic, because it features a deep red varnish on the bowl and neck. It also has an extended fingerboard with some lovely
figuring in the wood. I would call this a mid-range instrument, nice traditional Egyptian sound and great playability, with the label from Shehata's
workshop visible inside the bowl. I'm asking for $500 plus shipping from Spain.

Bowl: walnut
Fingerboard: walnut
Pegs: ebony

¡Buenas! Estoy en Granada. Si no vives lejos, el laúd se puede probar (o recoger) en persona cuando quieras.Sam - 11-22-2013 at 01:34 PM
very nice lookin oud . any sound files??? the soundboard is pine wood (Swedish wood) as they call it in the arab countries . wood doesn't really
matter as long as the oud sounds good. epokhe - 11-22-2013 at 03:04 PM

Hi Sam. Wow, that's interesting! Do you really think it's pine? How do you distinguish it from spruce or cedar?
P.S. I would love to post a clip, but whenever I upload videos to my computer, the audio gets eliminated in the process. epokhe - 12-3-2013 at 04:56 PM
Hi everyone,
This oud is still for sale. The description of the woods has been updated (thanks to Sam's expertise), and I've lowered the price to $500 for good
