Emir, these are beautiful. I sent a message to you via your website about two weeks ago, asking if these ouds were still available, but I got no reply. I have since bought a tanbur. When I have some money again, I will take another look at your site. The sound files are excellent.

Rosewood for the bridge ? Well' I don't think this's a good choice of wood for this particular part. From what I know, and I don't assume I know anything at all, the wood for the bridge should be of a light weight wood, or am I wrong ?

Though, beautiful instruments. Was I in a Turkish oud mood, I'd probably have taken one. Well, at least :)
Good luck

Yours indeed

Hi Alfaraby,

There are two reason to use rosewood for the bridge. When bridge glued to top, frequency of first normal vibration modes of belly are reduced. heavier bridge is more effective to reduce this modes. So lower modes (with lower body transient) radiate sound more bassy character. this is prefered for turkish ouds.

latter, since heavier wood increase ef ective mass of modes, modes activite is decrease. So buzzing problem (similar volf ton on violin) is reduced and sound is more equal for all notes.

But if you use heavier wood for the bridge, your oud sound should be strong because heavier bridge will be reduce sound volume.

Best wishes
Emir
