Thanks you for sharing, Russ, that's a nice impro, indeed!
I am an oud player AND at the same time a hang player myself, so tell me, this hang is which generation of hang? I have a "free integral hang" from
2010, the last generation they made (before they stopped production now and developed the "Gubal", have you seen it already? Great ! I played it a few
days ago).
Do you know how your hang it is tuned? The one I have doesn't fit so easily with my oud, I would have to tune my oud after the hang which I didn't try
out so far, but after your recording maybe I will do it once and play with some of my friends this way.

Firstly - thanks to all who commented on my post - i'm very pleased that some of you found the oud/hang combo of some interest
i have'nt done many recordings with the hang - unfortunately, but i felt that the two instruments contrasted well
doc139 - the hang used here was a 1st generation model, at least 10 if not more years old - bought personaly from felix by my friend - it had all the
arabic 'piano' hijaz intervals
ie - d eb f# g ab b c d with the 'dome' pitch i think, on D - so no clash - sorry to be a bit vague - i'm sure there were other pitches
included as well
i have heard the later generation models with specific microtonal pitches for rast and bayat but personaly speaking i was'nt impressed
cheers Russ
