Hello fellow brothers and sisters in tarab,
Some of you may know me from bringing your sick old instruments to my small apartment over the last several years in the remote hills by the mountain
in Beacon, NY. The place in which I lived in such close proximity to instruments, wood, wood shavings and saw dust. A place where I couldn't prevent
saw dust from falling on my bed, or even in my arroz con gandules. Well I'm proud to announce that I will no longer be eating ebony and rosewood saw
dust in my food from my house, I will be eating ebony and rosewood particles in my food at my store front shop!
By some freak miracle or by cosmological accident.. this Saturday, March 8, 2014 marks the day a where a certain determined Puerto Rican on a mission,
whom specializes in a relatively obscure instrument know as the "oud" will be opening a commercial space to the public for repairs to all stringed
instruments. The grand opening is from 1-8pm. Come by and see it for yourself, its crazy! There will be ouds, violins, qanun, guitars and more for
sale. Drop off any instruments needing special care. I've been known to perform repairs, restorations, and even resurrections. Some instruments I've
made will be there, and some instruments which I've made and were sold will be on display as well. I hope to see you there.
Thank you,
John Vergara

That sounds and looks great, John! What a pity that it's just a few miles too far from here to pass by... But I'll surely do if ever I come to the
U.S.!
All the best wishes for the new start!

Oh dear John ! This's heaven. I keep dreaming of such a cozy corner where I shall calm down after retirement and spend my last days on Earth.
What a surprise ! You son of a .. oud. Kept this in secret for such a long time ? Not even a word ? Not a hint ? You vicious, wicked Lad.
Well, congratulation buddy. A big hug from your uncle here, who's temporarily stuck in his hometown, not coming to the opening, not seeing, not
foreseeing when he might cross the ocean to NY & drop in at your place. But one sunny day, some when in this life or in the next, if ever, an old
man will appear at your doorstep, blocking sunlight with his big stature, yelling at you: Hey John, ya sadeeqi, what's up chap ? That would probably
be your friend Jamil.
For the time being, I'll cross fingers and wish you luck and all the best. You deserve it. Keep your lovely corner clean & tidy, smile to every
sparrow flying around, listen to oud music, maybe some guitar masterpieces, great tenors etc. and make the most beautiful ouds mankind ever knew. Yes,
you can do it man.
I usually don't like surprises, but this time, I'll make one.
Good luck and great job
Best wishes
Yours indeed,
Alfaraby

Good luck and every success with this new initiative John - looking great.
BTW where is all the snow - we are still thigh deep in the stuff here in the (not too distant) 'frozen North'?!

Absolutely fantastic that you are now have a store front open less than 30 mins away
I remember seeing an ad you had up in a coffee shop in Beacon many years ago and eventually figured out that it was you here. I had to stop practicing
when I broke my wrist and have been wanting to get back into it again. My oud (Sukar floating bridge) pegs / peg box needs a bit of work so I may be
dropping by very soon.
I am also very jealous as I have been following your builds here for a while. I have been wanting to attempt a build myself someday -- have the
workshop lacking the time.
Congratulations!
