Only problem is you can't put it on your back, you have to carry it like a briefcase. But maybe you can only do that with a soft case.
Roosebeck review

I went ahead and purchased a Roosebeck Oud Hard Case from ebay to see for myself what is like.
It is a good case, but big. It seems a good fit for larger Arabic ouds than for the instruments I play. It will probably fit in most overhead
compartments, but is wider than my other hard cases.
For the price (under $150 including shipping!) it is a great bargain for anyone looking for a hard case for their larger oud.
I am attaching the specs here so you can make sure your oud will fit if you are considering ordering one.
Take care,
Mavrothi

Hi mavrothi, do you think this is a case that makes it safe for the oud to go into the belly of an aircraft? I'm going to pick up 2 ouds in istanbul
this month and am told that it is extremely unlikely i can get them inti the cabin. There seem to be fases that can withstand at least 80 kg on top of
them, and i wonder if yours is such a case.mavrothis - 7-14-2014 at 02:10 AM
Hi Hans,
The only cases that can be safe in the luggage compartment of an airplane are the flight cases which are filled with foam, cut to the instrument's
dimensions.
Considering the cost of a case like that, it might be better for you to just have one of the ouds shipped to your home, and carry on the other. Unless
you believe you will use a flight case often, I would consider having one shipped if you are traveling alone and can't have another person carry on
the second oud.
Take care,

Hey! Thanks for your quick reply! I'm thinking about the flight case because i spoke to klm cabin crew (i work for klm) and they said you run a chance
of not getting even one oud in the cabin anymore because they've taken out the coatroom on the 737's, which only leaves the luggage bins. If the
flight's full, they are likely to reject the case for the cabinmavrothis - 7-14-2014 at 04:05 AM
Hi Hans,
Since you actually work for KLM, you can probably find out which seats are boarded first - perhaps you can even pay for early boarding - and that
would be a good option to make sure you get one oud on board and in the overhead.
In my experience, even when crew tells you all the overhead compartments are full, they often do have some room left (sometimes lots of room!). It
helps to be polite but insistent in these instances. I once walked off of a plane to wait for the next flight from Chicago-NYC because the crew
insisted I would have to check my oud.
FYI, on a recent flight back from Greece (to USA), I fit two ouds (in padded gig bags) in the same overhead compartment, but I was traveling with
family so technically nobody had more than the allowed number of carry on bags.
Good luck with your travels, and I hope you are happy with your instruments!
Sincerely,

Unfortunately i get to check in last because i travel on staff standby tickets. Well at least they are cheap tickets
