I would like discussion about Persian and Arabic/Turkish music. Any insights historical, theoretical, or stylistically would be great.
I have written a brief review of one of Hossein Behroozinia's
Behroozinia's more recent studio recordings.
Has anyone listened to this album or any of his earlier work?

Hey..
Really good and insightful review, thanks.
Hossein Behroozinia is one of my favorite oud/barbat players anywhere.
I love how he has re-inserted a more Persian identity to the instrument.
I have Mehradad Fallahzadeh's book 'Two Treatises - Two Streams'.
This book provides the link between the Medieval Persian-Arabic music, Safavid and early Ottoman music (16th to 18th centuries)

Also this book connects Afghan - Persian - Arabic - Turkish and Indian styles with a good part on the Timurid period.
Recently I have been listening almost entirely to Persian music to learn it better.
I am interested in the Radif in particular.
Just ordered this book and CD's :
