2 days back I found Mr. Ibrahim sukrar's phone number and texted him to ask about his business.
He said after he lost his workshop in the crisis there in Syria he established a new workshop and started oud production. all went fine until last
week when radical religious groups that forbid music forced him to close his new workshop.
He is thinking of shifting his work to yet another place in syria or leaving the country all together. "these foreign groups want us out of our
country" he said.
I told him many oud players ask about him and his ouds and wish him all the best. He said 27 years of making ouds taught him that anyone with taste
for music is against war and blood.
he wished peace for everyone and asked god to help him and other syrians.
very sad.
