Help identify this Turkish song

Lysander - 3-15-2015 at 07:56 AM

I need to know this song. It is called Naciyem, it is a folk song by anon. I only have one bar of the song though!

Can anyone help me find a recording of this song or more info on it? Thank you.

This?

There are lots of videos of songs called "Naciyem" on the web, I'm not sure if they're all the same.

If this is the correct song, I found the nota, which I've attached. As an Arabic-style oudist, I am always a little jealous about how easy it is to find free Turkish notları on the web... ;)

I listened a few times to the (very short) recording posted by Lysander. I actually think it's this tune: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRgUg5jTq6U and another recording here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53q5BGkHDSg

I am attaching a couple of notaları I found. If I am correct...

1) I am feeling like the Sherlock Holmes of Middle Eastern music right now (pretty damn smug and proud of myself) for ID'ing a completely unfamiliar song based on part of the name and 1 bar of music;

2) I reiterate, as an Arabic-style oud player, that you guys who play Turkish music are a bunch of lucky f---ers for having so many scores so available and so easy to find on the web! :D

Enjoy!

Peace out,
Udi John

John, you have done some sterling detective work here. When I first looked at the notation I wasn't sure if it was the same piece since I now remember the bar following the one I played which had a similar tune to ÇAMLAR ALTINA ''NACİYEM" but a different rhythm. However, I'm now convinced that it is indeed the same song but notated with a very slightly different rhythm [we're talking incremental]. The other thing that gives it away, apart from that fact that the piece is littered with mixed rhythm triplets [not sure what you call them] as I remember is the fact that it was a saz piece and everything you've posted is saz-related.

I am very impressed. I tried to find this on my own with no luck, it's great that you and the community has come through. Eternal thanks.

EDIT: This confirms it is the same song, they've just played around with the rhythm

The only thanks I could ever ask for that you remember me the next time you or anyone in your entourage is tempted to use the oft-heard phrase, "stupid American." ;)

Glad to be of help...

Peace out,
"Udi" John
