Hi,
After some long time I managed to assembly my second instrument It is a 7c lute,
mainly with the same desing that was described in "Fighting with lute bowl" topic on this forum, but altered for seven courses (first single), and
lower bridge position making it 615 mm scale lenght.
This instrumetn is built very lightly, weights about 550 g.
Lute body is finished with brushed shellac (3 coats of rather thick batch, light sanding between), and the top was coated very gently with "egg white
distillate", as reported on this forum. Now top is impregnated quite well, hardly swelling a drop of water. Beside, it looks very handsom, like a thin
oil glaze. It darkened the spruce a little, making it "aged" visually too.
Temporarily, I strung it with a selection of 'marine' fishing lines (some PVF), just to check stability, and get rough feeling about it.
