Hi,
at present I've some problems with my D strings. The strings is buzzing a little when I play an F ... I changed my strings two weeks ago ... maybe I should wait a little ?
My new D strings is around 3,1kg (PY 10085).. when I play with a little more tension (3,4kg with PY 1009) I haven't any buzzing problems but I find the sound of the D a little loud compare to other strings.

hello,

do you have the buzzing over the whole fingerboard?
Did you look if there is a gap in the fingerboard?

Best regards

Matthias

The buzz only affects my F ... I think that my fingerboard has a little gap in the F position ...

The third string often wears grooves in the fingerboard. If the fingerboard is thick enough, the grooves can be sanded down but be sure to use a flat sanding block as long as the entire fingerboard to avoid sanding a cup in the surface. This will only create a new buzz. The grooves also can be filled with glass filled epoxy or steel repair epoxy, then sanded flat again.

thanks for your replies. I let my oud yesterday to my luthier, he sanded the figerboard. The buzzing is now solved. My luthier told me that it was normal after 4 years of intense playing, the rosewood fingerboard needed to be sanded... the action is little higher but the playability is still ok.
