Hi, just my 2 cents. Around here there's a trio and two of them play Oud, even simultaneously in some compositions. One of the guys have a "regular"
Sandi Oud (long fingerboard, probably VMIU-50) and the other one has a "cutaway" Oud that looks exactly like this though I don't know if it's a Sandi.
The point is that the guy playing the "regular" full bowl Oud gets a deeper, rounder and full-bodied tone, while the one with the "cutaway" Oud sounds
flatter, with lack of bass, thin sound. You can realize that immediately when they both play Oud in question and answer type of phrases. Just another
thing to consider.
Of course, if mobility is more important for you in this case, then it's a better choice. But if price is the question, I just payed the same for a
"regular" bowl Sandi Oud (shipping to South America included).
