This 1964 Syrian oud was repaired and enhanced several years ago by Oud and Saz Restoration of Berkeley, CA. New extended fingerboard, bridge, nut,
pick guard, and tuning pegs, and the finish has been French polished. Attractive hand-carved original wood rosettes. Maker's label inside.
This is a large Arabic oud with a 61.5 cm scale. The bowl is quite deep. Rich deep Arabic tone. Nice for ensemble work or accompanying a singer or
dancer.
The oud is strung with 11 strings tuned C F A D G C. The oud is fitted out for 12 strings, Egyptian style (F A G D C F), but because of a repaired
hairline crack at the top of the peg head - visible in the closeup photo - this would probably not be advisable unless the wood were reinforced at
this point with a pin. A luthier could do this easily. There are also several repaired cracks below the bridge. Comes with extra tuning begs and the
11 string nut.
