Maqam Guitar

I tried it.

And I like it very much.

1. What i did.

-I bought a actually good guitar for 25 €.
-I took of the frets but sanded only the glue on the fingerboard.
You can play it like that! It feels comfortable and there are no jumps between the notes within a slide. The remaining slots give also a nice visual help.
-I sanded the nut and the saddle. It's done quckly.
-I took of the 1st string, moved the others and added a C string.
Then tuned to CFadgc.

2. What I like about it.

- You can easily add a capo! This makes sense, if you want to figure out a song by listening to it! A new possibilitie for me.
If you put the capo on the 3rd fret, the marks on the guitarneck help you to find the qurtertones.
- I live in an appartment. If I want to play at night, I mute my maqamguitar with a sock or a piece of a sponge. It's very quiet. And I enjoy the maqam playing with my fingers. (For me it sounds even better than with a pic on that maqamguitar)

3. Outlook

-I think of building a stock of these cheap nice instruments. In my area it is difficult to get an oud, but easy to get a guitar. Here are a lot of arab peolpe like to play music.
