A lot of people ask me, "How do I learn taqasim?"
It's a good question... Part of it has to do with lots of time listening, and trying to play melodies you hear. But most taqasim are played really
quickly and it's hard to catch all the notes. Even if you use a program to slow them down, they might be too advanced for your level when you're
learning.
So I've created a couple audio files that you can play along with. These are melodies made up on the spot in different maqamat. They have been slowed
down and you're given room to try and figure out the melody.
You may want to use your voice as well as your Oud to figure out the melody. Just try and copy each phrase.
These are good for beginner Oud players and intermediate Oud players. If you're an advanced Oud player, you may want to use these to exercise your
ear, it's good practice all the same.
