Hey guys,
I know this is an Oud forum, but lets just say this one is part of the family aswel! On offer is a 7c Renaissance Lute made and labeled by luthier
S.W. Oliver 1983. Original fine finish.
Design based on Augsburg master, Ferdinand Wuenger / Gabrell Buchstetter examples c.1550. Nine figured flame maple ribs, neck and pegbox, ebony
fingerboard + side trim and rosewood pegs. 78cm overall length and a string length of 67cm. Includes the original drawings.
The instrument has been professionally cleaned etc. And has been fitted with a new set of La Bella strings (unison).
In very good condition. Please note there has been a 3 inch, long time, hairline soundboard crack off centre from the bottom of the rose; it has just
been professionally repaired by a skilled luthier though it did not affect the tone in any way. Deep clear resonance. No buzzes etc; see photo.
The lute has been metal fretted for convenience; these can easily be removed and gut fretted if desired.
Very nice action and tone.
The instrument quality is comparable to professionally made lutes costing £3000+ and a Kingham-like case costing £500+.
Will ship across the pond and internationally, tracked and insured. Pickups are welcome as well!
