alright, my name is mar-mar (nickname...yes
) and i've been playing the oud for a
little over a year now. it never hit me that one day my strings would break....and today was the day
. one of my strings ripped and i have no idea where to get new strings from or even how to put them on! if anyone has
any info and and can help me out, that would be great.

Mike: I can not understand the reason for the order of the strings in the peg box. I bought a syrian 10 strings ud and the first thing I did was
reorder the strings as usual in all strings instruments, like guitars, bouzouk... Really, I do not get the point for that strange order in the page
you post the link.

Order of strings

There are many different stringing orders. The one you see on David Parfitt's page (which is very common) attempts to balance the "pull" on the bridge
between the lighter and heavier strings. Remember the bridge is glued on the face and it is constantly subjected to forces from the strings that try
to pull it up and unglue it from the face, unlike the guitar.
