I think I have some . . .but how to share?ameer - 1-6-2017 at 03:29 PM
Wow! I've never heard this one, ameer. I've only heard the ones on his CD, and another set of 10 from a private session where he both sings and plays.
If there are more, please share!

Unfortunately this is the only one I have aside from the ones you've mentioned. mich - 1-6-2017 at 05:12 PM

This is a very nice record. I bought it new in the 1960s. But not for anything like 56 Euros! Like most students in those days I had poor playback
equipment and poor training in caring for vinyl. Consequently my copy is now equal parts music and equal parts scratches, pops, crackles and hisses.
On the Hijaz taqsim his style is Arabic and his intonation is sometimes close to the Ottoman conception of Hicaz. He plays from D with the B just
south of natural. Not B flat. I also remember that this recording was the first time I knowingly heard maqam Rast. I was fascinated with the
"neutral" intonation of the pitch Segah. I had never heard anything like it at the time. Anyway, it's nice to be reminded of this recording. It
brings back good memories.mich - 1-6-2017 at 08:59 PM
I'm glad to have brought back a fond memory Jody but, at this price, I will also give the album a pass.ameer - 1-6-2017 at 09:19 PM
The above soundcloud account actually has several of his recordings.Khalil_Oud - 1-7-2017 at 06:30 AM
Hi all, i thank you very much for your information and music sharing !
Thank you Ameer for th 1954 taksim, the quality is amazing, i've never heard it before.
Brian, i woul appreciate to get some parts or the cd if it's possible, i'm new in the forum, so i don't know the procedure to share music... u2u?
Email?....
Jody: i totally gree with you on the notes/tones subtilities (the B augmented....). His hijaz taksim is just amazing, i learned lot by playing it many
years ago. If i could get it, i promess to play it (refresh my memory: around 1992) and record it for the forum.
Thank you Ameer for the link to the CD !
I loved the description below the tracks (that I appreciated a lot !). It gave an idea of how it was seen by some greatest.
My Oud teacher told me that Farid Ghosn was one of Farid al-atrach oud teacher, my be he gave him some courses, or they were friends.... We all know
that the mean Farid al-atrach teacher was Ryad al-Sunbaty... But the CD description is good to know ! Thanks ! John Erlich - 1-8-2017 at 01:04 PM
