Hello everybody!
During the last two days I have made a note sheet for my exercises. Just scales as I knew them from guitar playing. Starting from roots C F G A D and
E I made up all the modes there are like ionian, dorian, phrygian, lydian, mixolydian, aeolian, locrian, harmonic minor (nahawand), melodic minor and
spanish phrygian (hijaz) through two octaves with fingerings. I only put in the E key to be firm if playing with a guitarist, apart from that I
believe E is not a very popular key on the oud, there are some awkward fingerings.
I did that work because mostly you get those modes from a C key saying, well, starting on C is ionian, from D is dorian and so on, but this never
gives you the feeling how different the modes really sound. Except you know about that stuff of course.
I named all the scales in german, but if you see lydisch it just means lydian, so don't worry. Fingerings are mostly written using the open strings.
So if anybody thinks that might be useful for practising . . . for me it is. Getting to know my fingerboard better for sure! Feedback welcome!
P.S. There are no scales included like rast or similar because my notation program does not include the accidentals for maqams.
